McGuire, Wood & Bissette, P.A. has an immediate opening for an associate estate and trust administration attorney to join its Trusts, Estates, and Elder Law practice group. The ideal candidate will have an interest in this area of law, a willingness to learn, a good attitude, excellent communication skills, and a dedication to client service. Prior experience is not required.
Applicants must be comfortable working with clients directly as well as working with a team of attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants to administer probate estate and trust matters sensitively and efficiently. This position includes advising fiduciaries (e.g., executors and trustees) with respect to their duties, assisting clients with the discovery and administration of assets, communicating with beneficiaries, preparation of probate filings (e.g., inventories and annual accounts), creative problem solving, the ability to organize and manage multiple files, attention to detail, emotional sensitivity, and a desire to assist families through a difficult life changing event.
Qualifications:
- All candidates should be licensed to practice in North Carolina or eligible to waive into North Carolina Bar.
- Graduation from an accredited law school.
- Interest or experience in estate and trust administration.
- Detail-oriented.
- Excellent communication skills.
- A proactive approach to professional work and relationships.
Job Duties:
- Advise fiduciaries as to their duties.
- Build relationships with clients based on trust.
- Represent clients in probate matters and adhere to relevant probate deadlines.
- Annual billable hour expectation is a minimum of 1,300, with additional hours dedicated to non-billable goals (e.g., community involvement, professional development, and business development).
